I am exhausted — no wit, no jokes: I want to sleep for the next 48 hours, but I can’t because it’s only 3:45pm on Friday and I have to do more work. Have you ever had a night where you wake up like 3 or 4 times for no reason at all? That is what my week has been like. Ever since Monday or Sunday night, I just keep waking up at 2, 3, or 4am and it’s officially interfering with my social life. I am cursing my body for not being able to function 20 hours a day.
The worst part of all this is that although I’d really like to take a nap right now, I can’t because ironically it will mess up my sleep schedule.
My friend is going to Norway tonight — actually she’s probably on the plane right now. She wanted me to blog about it so I am. She’s going there for 10 or 11 days. It’s about an 8 hour flight. When I lived in Texas and now in California, I used to take 8 hour flights (longer now) with layovers for a two or three day period. Given that, I think it’s TOTALLY reasonable that when I go home next time (or the time after that most likely) that I should just go to Europe for 3 days. WHY THE HELL NOT? Find a cheap flight (Less than $500 RT) and just go. I know enough French, English, and Spanish to get by. If I end up in Italy, Germany, or the Netherlands, I can learn a few key phrases — no big deal. My passport is valid until August 2015, so I’m set. I guess I can’t go to Russia or any of the FSU without a visa but let’s be honest, that flight’s going to be expensive; I’d also probably want to spend more than 3 days there. Actually, I would LOVE to go to Budapest for three days – that would be AMAZING! I don’t speak Hungarian but whatever, right? Zagreb would be cool too. I’ve never really been to Eastern Europe other than Turkey and that was so long ago I wouldn’t be able to figure out where I went and where I didn’t go.
This post has actually helped do the trick. I’m a bit more awake now. Here’s hoping that I don’t start looking up flight information to get out of California.
